Special Education Director

I am honored to join Hayfield Community Schools and look forward to supporting students, families, and staff. My journey in education has been shaped by a passion for learning, a commitment to inclusive education, and a belief that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed.

I grew up on a farm in rural northeast Iowa, where I learned the importance of hard work, perseverance, responsibility, and community. Those values continue to guide me both personally and professionally and have shaped my approach to education and leadership.

My educational journey includes a Bachelor of Arts from William Penn University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Morningside University, and an Administration license in Principal and Special Education Director through Keystone AEA. I also earned my Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Education from Drake University.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to serve students and schools in a variety of roles, including special education teacher, special education consultant, and school principal. As a school principal, I also served as the special education director and curriculum director for my building. These experiences have provided me with a broad perspective on instruction, special education, curriculum, leadership, and the importance of collaboration among educators, students, and families.

I am passionate about creating schools where students feel known, valued, supported, and challenged. I believe strong relationships, high expectations, collaboration, and a commitment to doing what is best for students are at the heart of successful schools.

I look forward to building relationships with students, families, and staff and working together to create meaningful opportunities for every learner to thrive.
